JDC Motorsports has signed Brazilian driver Caio Lara for the 2009 Star Mazda Series. The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, but it’s that time of the year where teams like to start finalizing their available rides.
This will be Caio’s second season in Star Mazda and he made some real solid improvements in 2008. The 2009 season will be a true tell-tale for his talents as JDC Motorsports is a proven team and championship contender. Caio spent last season with Mundill Racing and ran mid-pack most of the year. His best finish was sixth, which just happened to be his finishing position in the final two events of 2008. Just to emphasize his improvements, he failed to finish inside the top ten in his first five races, from that point on, he finished inside the top ten in 71% of his starts. It will be fun to watch his progress this year, under the guidance of John Church.
