Benjamin Searcy has signed with ZSports Midwest for the 2009 F2000 Championship. Searcy has quite a bit of karting experience and has shown promise in the Skip Barber racing series. Last season, the 19-year-old ran two Skip Barber National races and qualified for both events inside the top-ten. His qualifying lap on Day 2 was a mere 0.215 seconds off Connor De Phillippi's lap--De Phillippi swept the opening SBN races at Sebring last weekend.
Searcy recently completed a very successful test with Ron Boltik and the ZSports Midwest crew at Putnam Park, which in-turn led to the commitment for 2009.
This is a decent signing for the Minnesota-based team. With some additional seat-time Searcy should do quite well this season. I fully expect to see him getting faster every weekend.
