Formula BMW driver Adrien Tambay has committed to racing in the F3 Euro Series with ART Grand Prix for 2009. Adrien has shown promise in the Formula BMW series, racing in both the Americas and the Europe series. The 17-year-old Frenchman also completed tests with Mucke and Signature-Plus before signing with ART.
Adrien is the son of former Formula One driver Patrick Tambay, who raced in the F1 for nine years (114 starts, 2 wins, 11 podiums).
Adrien looks on pace to follow in his fathers footsteps by claiming 3 victories and 12 podiums this season in Formula BMW competition. The young Frenchman either improved his position or remained equal to his starting position in 65% of his starts in 2008. He spent the last two years developing his race craft in Formula BMW via 41 starts. The move to the F3 Euro Series for 2009 with ART Grand Prix should prove to be a wise move in his development.
