The 2008 Atlantic Championship "Team Owners of the Year", Ray and Leslie Mathiasen, had the opportunity to see up and coming star John Edwards in action at Putnam Park. Edwards who won the 2008 Star Mazda Championship, got back in an Atlantics car for a test at Putnam with Mathiasen Motorsports as part of his award for claiming the 2008 Star Mazda title. The 17 year old phenom was reportedly able to turn a 57.0 second lap in cool weather (this has not been verified).
Edwards is yet to announce his plans for 2009.
