Rounds 9 & 10 of the Star Mazda Championship took place at New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend; September 12-14. Drivers took to the new circuit located in Millville, New Jersey on Friday morning, trying to learn the track layout and get their cars set up quickly for qualifying on Saturday.
Despite having a bad cold, John Edwards took his third win of the year on Saturday after qualifying 2nd to Joel Miller. Edwards had a solid run, winning by a fairly large margin; 7.424 seconds over JDC Motorsport's Joel Miller. Irishman Peter Dempsey wasn't able to keep his winning streak alive, but managed to cross the stripe in third...taking the final spot on the podium.

On Sunday, Peter Dempsey returned to his winning ways by taking his fourth victory in the last five events. Alex Ardoin managed to rebound from a tough DNF on Saturday by taking the 2nd spot on the podium. John Edwards took the third and final spot while still battling a severe cold that caused him to collapse on the podium. Edwards actually was ahead of Dempsey in the race until a car spun in front of him, forcing evasive action. It was a very good effort by the young American who was obviously under physical duress.

The Star Mazda series returns to action October 3rd at Road Atlanta. The top five drivers in the season championship are separated by a mere 29 points, with two races remaining on the calendar.
