J.R. Hildebrand had a great run at Long Beach today, taking a flag to flag win. It's nice to see Hildebrand come home with the win after having bad luck at the opening round in St. Petersburg. He has been fast in nearly every session this season and he showcased his speed again today. The win allowed the 21-year-old driver to improve 5 spots in the overall points championship, where he currently sits 3rd. Hildebrand also set the fast lap of the race with a time of 1:16.0853.
Richard Philippe managed to come home in second, while James Hinchcliffe had a nice run to finish 3rd--claiming the final spot on the podium.
The Hard Charger of the day is Pablo Donoso. Donoso had a great run improving 10 positions, finishing 11th after starting 21st. This is the second hard charger nomination Donoso has received in three races... in Race 1 at St. Petersburg he managed to improve 12 positions. It would seem that Donoso's biggest challenge thus far is setting a good lap in qualifying, because he has certainly shown good racecraft. Honorable mention should go to Sebastian Saavedra who improved 9 positions, finishing the race in 8th after starting back in 17th.
