Andersen Racing: Star Mazda Testing Update

Andersen Racing held a two-day test at Sebring International Raceway last week. Their Star Mazda drivers: Richard Kent and Conor Daly were accompanied by two newcomers during the test; Gabby Chaves and Adam Christodoulou.

Gabby Chaves is too young to compete in the entire 2009 Star Mazda championship... as he is yet to turn 16. However, according to the press release from Andersen, it sounds as if he may do a few one-offs with the team after his sixteenth birthday in July. Chaves spent last season developing his craft in various Skip Barber and Formula BMW series. The 15-year-old Colombian driver was absolutely dominant in his Skip Barber efforts, winning 88% of the races he entered in 2008. In Formula BMW, he managed to find the podium on three occasions. His best finish occurred on October 18th, where he finished 2nd at Shanghai, in the Formula BMW-Pacific series. One might expect to see Chaves back in Formula BMW for 2009, running with the newly formed Andersen Racing Formula BMW program...Although, nothing official has been announced.

Adam Christodoulou is the 2008 British Formula Renault champion. The 19-year-old driver from Litchfield, England claimed the FR 2.0 UK Championship with 7 wins and 11 podiums; driving for CR Scuderia. He finished inside the top 5 in all but 3 out of 20 races, exemplifying his consistency as a front runner. His plans for 2009 are still unreleased.

Both drivers would be an excellent addition to an already promising Star Mazda line-up for Andersen Racing.
