Gustavo Yacaman has signed with Sam Schmidt Motorsports to contest the 2009 Indy Lights series. The 17-year-old Colombian has spent the last few years in Europe, racing in the Spanish Formula 3 series. He finished ninth this year in the F3-Spain championship, with one win and two podiums in 13 starts, driving for TEC Auto. The win came at the famed circuit Spa-Francorchamps on June 1st.Before moving to Europe, Gustavo developed his skills in the Stars of Karting ranks of North America, winning the Junior ICA National title in 2005.
This is a big move for the young pilot, but under the guidance of Sam Schmidt...I expect him to do quite well.
