Junior Open Wheel Talent

Gustavo Yacaman has signed with Sam Schmidt Motorsports to contest the 2009 Indy Lights series. The 17-year-old Colombian has spent the last few years in Europe, racing in the Spanish Formula 3 series. He finished ninth this year in the F3-Spain championship, with one win and two podiums in 13 starts, driving for TEC Auto. The win came at the famed circuit Spa-Francorchamps on June 1st.

Before moving to Europe, Gustavo developed his skills in the Stars of Karting ranks of North America, winning the Junior ICA National title in 2005.

This is a big move for the young pilot, but under the guidance of Sam Schmidt...I expect him to do quite well.
