Gary Carlton Tests a Pro Formula Mazda

Gary Carlton of Marysville, California had the opportunity to test the Molecule Labs Pro Formula Mazda racecar at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Carlton, who is 22-years old, has had a very successful career driving shifter karts and has never really had any ambition to drive race cars. He had this to say about the test....
“This was just a test; I have no plans to change what I’m doing or to stop racing karts. But I’m really thankful I got the chance to experience what a Pro Formula Mazda can do.”
The test came courtesy of current sponsors Michael Guasch and Oakley. According to the press release, this was Carlton's first experience in a full size race car and he performed extremely well despite the wet/foggy conditions. It's nice to see a driver like Carlton who truly has the talent to move up in motorsports, remain in karts. I'm glad to hear that he has no intention of leaving the karting ranks, but at the same time it would be a lot of fun to watch him race cars if he ever had the desire/funding to do so.
