Junior Open Wheel Talent

Finnish driver Valle Makela has signed on with Anderson Racing to compete in three Star Mazda races. He has also committed to several test days with the team to prepare himself for his North American debut. Makela was a very talented Formula A driver in karts prior to making a name for himself in cars. He spent four years racing different Formula Ford series and in that time won two championships. He spent last season racing FBMW FBO2 race cars with Nexa Racing. In 18 races last season he had one win, one pole position, two fast times, and four podiums. Makela's resume is quite impressive as he has even dabbled in Touring cars. In 82 career races, he has 12 wins, 25 podiums, and 8 pole positions.

Makela is currently working on putting together funding to contest more events with Anderson Racing. Funding has been a hindrance on his efforts in the past. He made an interesting comment stating, "the weakness of the dollar makes American racing very appealing for European drivers." This is a valid point, look for more European drivers to make the jump to American motorsports.
